In addition to the warmth of Tunisian crochet’s “doubled rows”, the lattice stitch adds visual and tactile interest with its crossed stitches that look like a trellis. Made with worsted weight/Aran weight yarn, it works up pretty quickly. Can be embellished with fringe or tassles. The Poncho is one size fits most, but is easy to adjust: > Front is approximately 24" long. > Back is approximately 26" long. > Entire piece is approximately 53" wide. This is an easy crochet pattern that requires basic knowledge of Tunisian crochet and appropriate Tunisian hook with cord. Materials: > Yarn: Loops & Threads Crème Cotton, or any other Aran/Worsted weight yarn (Crème Cotton has been discontinued, go to yarnsub.com for the best alternative yarns). If this poncho is for outdoors wear in chilly weather, I would recommend a wool blend (or alpaca, if wool sensitivity is an issue) that is washable, like Lion Brand Wool Ease, Cascade Yarns Pacific, or Paintbox Yarns Wool Blend Worsted, or the worsted/Aran weight yarn of your choice. >>> Color A: Pumpkin: 7 skeins (approximately 2,100 yards/1926 meters) >>> Color B: Crème: 6 skeins (approximately 1,950 yards/1,780 meters) > Hook: 6.5mm (K) hook with 24” or 30” cable and 1 stopper. Because of the nature of Tunisian crochet stitches, I recommend using a hook that is at least 2 sizes larger than the recommended hook on the yarn, hence, the K hook.
